The Porter County Coroner's Office plays a pivotal role in many families' lives every week, and you never know when it might be your family that we are helping. The day your family requires the services of the coroner's office is never a good day, and I want to make sure the deputies of this office are equipped with the training, knowledge, and tools to serve your family to the best of our ability. The coroner's office's primary duty is investigative in nature. We are tasked with determining what caused the passing of your loved one and the manner in which it took place.
Secondary to the investigation is helping your family process and work through the passing of your loved one. All of us have lost loved ones unexpectedly or too soon, my family and I included. Our deputy coroners will approach each case as if it were their family, dealing with the loss of their loved one. Most importantly, if your family has suffered this loss at the hands of another, the Porter County Coroner's Office will work tirelessly with our law enforcement brothers and sisters to hold the person accountable for taking that loved one away.
I do not consider myself solely qualified for this position because I have experienced loss, or simply because I know the pain your family is feeling in the moment of loss. I have spent more than half of my life serving the citizens of this county and showing up for you on some of your worst days. A few of the main reasons I consider myself qualified for this office are listed below:
* 22 years of experience in law enforcement and investigations (corrections, patrol, murder trial experience, security work/corporate investigations, death investigations)
* Current Chief Deputy of the Porter County Coroner's Office for 7 years (Deputy Coroner for over 10 years)
* 15 years of leadership experience from supervising crews, to managing departments of 25/30 staff members, budgeting, and creation of policies and procedures
* Certified Non-Violent Crisis De-escalation instructor (trained over 500 people to date in crisis de-escalation)
I am looking to utilize my relationships with our local law enforcement partners to bolster our deputy training. I want to grow the office to keep pace with the county's growth. Most importantly, I want to ensure this office serves the citizens of this county with compassion, integrity, and accountability in the moments that hurt the most, on the worst days.
My name is Brian Bowles, and I have dedicated my life to serving Porter County's citizens. I am asking you to remember my name on November 3rd when you cast your vote to elect the next Porter County Coroner, not for any political reasons, but because I am the most qualified to continue serving you and your family.
Thank you!
